Clinical Study of Protein Metablolism in Burn Patients

Abstract
Attention has frequently been called to the analysis of burn patients about the mortality, Plasma protein, Nitrogen balance and therapy. But the articles about the change of Plasma-protein level in burns are rare, because most burn patients has been treated with collid just after the burn. We selected 70 cases of burn patients who were not treated with colloid, not transfused, and have no evidence of other protein losing disease.
1. The volume of plasma level of plasma albumin. Globulin, A/G ratio, and urine albumin were reviewed in burn patients, who had been admitted to Seoul Red Cross Hospital during recent 4 years.
2. The volume of plasma reduced markedly on 1st day of burn, the area of burned skin was
more closely related to the volume of plasma than the interval after burn accidents.
3. Albumin level of plasma decreased most markedly on 3rd day of burn.
4. Globulin level also decreased after the burn accident but increased in severe burn patient more than46% of burned area.
5. Urinary albumin were positive about 50% of burn patient on 2nd day of burn.
